Morning breaks and you have a choice. You have choices along your journey through life. You can decide to be happy or you can decide to be sad and down. You have a choice about how you see life, regardless of what life presents. In fact, all through the day you have a choice about whether or not you accept life on life’s terms.
What is your first thought when you wake from a nights sleep. Is your thought negative or positive? Do you moan about having to get up and go about your day? Do you wake with a positive faith filled attitude or is it negative? Many wake up with their minds filled with worry and fear. Only you have the power to change what you think. You might not be able to change circumstance but you can sure change what you think about the event. Yes, maybe life could be better but at the moment life is what it is but you have to make the decision to change what you think about life. In changing what you think you actually have the power to change what you feel and how you act. So, if you wake up in a negative frame of mind immediately start the process of changing from the negative to the positive.
Maybe you just can’t mustard up the strengthen to change your thoughts in the morning. All day you worry and fret over something that might not even happen. Surprise, you can change what you think anytime of the day. Try it; let’s say all day long you have been negative, negative and more negative about some issue. Right now, decide to see the issue with different eyes. Look past the problem, find a solution, and start focusing all your thoughts on the solution. Why don’t you start being grateful for all the good in your life? Count each blessing one by one. Believe me, you can change your mind any time during the day.
Someone might say you just don’t know my situation. The problem could be, cancer, heart problems, divorce, addiction, death of a loved one…what else? Well, you still have a choice about how you see the problem. You still have a choice about how you think about the problem. Yes, the problem is difficult but you can still be positive. You can succeed. You will be healed. You can pick up and start over. In addition, death is not the end it is only the beginning.
Many times problems can lead a person to a deeper faith in God. Faith is one key to living life to it’s fullest. Without faith and you do have faith in something, life can be empty. Allow yourself to believe that God is in charge of this show and He has your best interest at heart.
When you wake tomorrow with a negative frame of mind, decide right then you will do whatever is necessary to change the negative into the positive. Remember you do have a choice.
When I talk of palace here I look beyond the wall of a monarchs’ seat. I am writing about the hall of fame in politics, education, music, church, Police, the military and many more. Over the years I have tried to study leadership formation and achievements, I have also in some way observed accomplishment of fame by various people. I looked into the expectations of people as against the performance of leaders and lots of things have unfolded and I just want to share some with you.
The issue here is the dividing line between leadership, conduct, character, godliness, vice and virtue. I had opportunity to read and watch the documentaries on the lives of men like Julius Cesar, Claudius, Nero and few others who where emperors. I saw good documentaries of Florence Nightingale, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela and many others. We have with us the stories of Presidents of America, the Prime Ministers of Great Britain, Presidents of France, African nations, Asia and others. We have great men and women who made great impact in their times and generation. Many of these won our admiration and many slipped out in “shame”.
The point we are looking at is their character failures. It has become obvious that great saints may not make great leaders and many famous leaders were never saints. What informs the rise of leaders is quite far from what make a saint. It is possible to find a person possessing both virtues and this make glad our hearts but they are not many coming by. It is quite common to find recklessness in leadership; we have many leaders as inhuman and self seeking. Many could go down as bloody and corrupt. They leave the people with hurts and hunger. Many create serious damages to the state than they met it.
Many shines like star for a season and their wane brings great darkness and anger. Many palaces have scenes but not saints. Many saints do not bother with the palace. The fact is that the community belong to the people not the politicians, the politicians claim the people but that is not the truth, the people make the politicians, the leaders use the people to solve the problem, many do not have a solution outside the people. Our greats are human and many do not claim sainthood status. Many great entertainers step out to have fun and give some to their fans; they have no bases for sainthood status and had no time to learn it. In the academics the acquisition of knowledge is not the same as acquisition of character and many of us know this. Success in many field of life is not judged with character indices, and so many fail despite their great learning and passion. We are to take responsibility to build our community, if we are to live in peace and happiness. We should support our leaders and rehabilitate them when they fail. The ultimate place to look to for a role model is to the almighty God. We should learn to live right, repent when we fail and ask for forgiveness from those we offended. All should aspire to love and respect the right of others to live and do their business.
